Different Types of
Scholarships

Merit Based Scholarships

Merit Based scholarships are awarded to students with excellent academic qualification. Scholarships are awarded based on the applicants grade point average(GPA) and scores in other tests.

Subject Specific Scholarships

Subject-centric scholarships are specific to particular subjects. For example business school or management courses scholarships, or medical scholarships etc.

University-specific Scholarships

University-specific scholarships are offered by universities that have their own scholarship awarded.

Need-based Scholarships

As the name suggests, need-based scholarship are awarded on the basis of the applicants financial condition. These are for students with lower-income background.

Students

Fellowship

A fellowship provides financial support to students to pursue graduate studies without associated teaching or research responsibilities. Fellowships are generally merit-based internal or external awards to support a student in full-time course study.

Teaching Assistantship

TA-Ship is the best source of funding in graduate school when pursuing Masters programs, Teaching Assistants are graduate students who help the faculty with conduct and delivery of courses. High score in speaking and
writing sections of TOEFL is very important.

Research Assistantship

This is a form of funding in which student works as an “assistant” in exchange for partial or full tuition and or a stipend. The funds for RAS come from the research projects under the professor. The job. typically consists of doing experiments, simulations, programming, writing research papers, setup labs, and more.
  • Workload up to 20 hours / week
  • Always includes Tuition waiver
  • Stipend possible
> Half-time: workload up to 20 hours/week
> Full-time: workload up to 40 hours/week.
